Many predicted that 2022 would be the Year of the DAO — and it’s been a truly watershed twelve months in the DAO ecosystem. Through a cycle of ups and downs, growing pains and meteoric innovation, one thing is clear: DAOs have arrived and are here to stay.
DAOs promise to fundamentally change the way that organizations operate by providing a decentralized and transparent approach to decision-making and governance. The DAO ecosystem is a rapidly evolving space, with daily innovations and developments. New projects and initiatives can emerge and gain traction quickly, and existing projects can pivot or change direction just as quickly. This fluidity is both exciting and challenging, as it means that the landscape of the DAO ecosystem is always in flux.
Tally harnesses this potential by creating the tools needed for DAO governance. Tally’s user-friendly platform enables anyone to create and run a DAO, regardless of their technical expertise or experience with blockchain technology, and our supportive community provides content and resources to help folks better understand and participate in the DAO space.
We Ship — The S.S. Tally! 🚢
The Tally team is committed to constant iteration and improvement, and in 2022 has focused on shipping new features and improving functionality to meet the evolving needs of the DAO space. We’ve made it easier than ever to create and run a DAO.
Here are just a few highlights from 2022:
A brand new domain (the tally.xyz you all know and love!) and a more intuitive, useful front page. We switched to SIWE for sign-in, and added a new navbar just this month!
Tally became self-serve, meaning anyone can add or start a DAO, using our improved on-boarding flow. We also created Tally Groups, allowing users to start building without the need for a deployed Governor contract.
A bevy of proposal features, including draft proposals, proposal recipes (for easy, out-of-the-box proposal creation!), off-chain polls, and our brand-new proposal simulations.
Expanded chain support from Ethereum to a total of 13 networks and testnets.
Better management of DAO funds, including information on Timelock Assets and our Gnosis Safe integration.
Improved resources, including a new knowledge base, better developer docs, a feature request board, and a more supportive, easier-to-use Discord community.
Oh, and we built rollcall, a proof-of-concept for cross-chain voting. Just for funsies.
We Create — DAO Talk, Content Guild, and More! ✍🏻
Our content team has kept pace with the Tally devs by launching a wide array of helpful DAO content into the ethersphere.
Here’s just a few of their accomplishments:
Planned and hosted DAO NYC, the premier conference for all things DAO.
Launched Content Guild, a DAO for creators. (We build DAOs, not just DAO tooling.)
Hosted the On-Chain Summit with Content Guild.
Created DAO Talk, a no bullsh*t take on DAOs, web3, crypto and the future of work. (2,254 Downloads Since Inception, 64 Episodes)

What’s Next for Tally?
As we head into a brand new year, the Tally team is gearing up to make it the best one yet. We have loads of exciting new features planned — including the Tally API — and can’t wait to share more with the DAO community at ETHDenver. In 2023, Tally will be not only the best place to run a DAO on-chain, but the best place to be a DAO Delegate. 🤐
