welcome back to the Tally newsletter, your weekly source for DAO governance insights. i'm coolhorsegirl and i’m so happy to be here.
as the DAO ecosystem evolves, the need for refined, secure, and truly decentralized standards of governance is becoming increasingly important. this week, we’re talking the Open Governance Stack, which is the governance framework that is OpenZeppelin Governor with Flexible Voting extension. we’ll break down what that means below.
as for live governance votes, Arbitrum’s treasury working group has launched its first proposal, concerned with RWAs. and Public Nouns might sponsor record-breaking tree planting that aims to make it into the guinness book of world records. let’s get into it 👇
🤿 deep dive
this week, we’re talking the Open Governance Stack, the standard in governance of decentralized organizations. the Open Governance Stack includes the OpenZeppelin Governor standard and Flexible Voting.
the OpenZeppelin Governor standard is a tried and trusted set of contracts developed for decentralized governance. the Flexible Voting extension (deep dive here) introduces versatility in voting mechanisms, allowing for a broader and more inclusive governance process without compromising on security or efficiency. we support both on Tally and recommend their use to all decentralized organizations. here’s why:
credibly neutral governance:
the core governance contracts at the heart of the Open Governance Stack are developed and diligently maintained by OpenZeppelin.
Flexible Voting is in the process of being added to the OpenZeppelin standard.
battle-tested framework:
$10B+ of treasury and $20B+ of TVL is currently managed by Governor contracts.
seamless omnichain voting:
Flexible Voting creates the interface for omnichain voting, but is credibly neutral and does not prescribe a particular solution.
Tally offers an omnichain voting solution ready out of the box that builds on Flexible Voting.
Flexible Voting provides a clear path to implementing other L2 voting solutions
scalability and efficiency:
using the Open Governance Stack, voters can take advantage of years of gas optimization efforts where e voting on L1 is not only secure but also cost-effective.
additionally, communities can enjoy omnichain support on Tally where transactions on L2s are remarkably cheaper
the Open Governance Stack, supported by Tally offers a secure, flexible, and scalable framework that caters to the needs of today's decentralized organizations. we’re excited to bring this standard to more communities, enabling them to harness the power of transparent and truly decentralized governance. reach out if you want to chat about how you can leverage the Open Governance Stack for your org!
